Tabernacle Child Development Center

Our mission is to serve God by serving his children in a loving and nurturing environment that lays a Christian foundation and equips them for academic success

CDC History

A QUALITY RATED program committed to providing a caring environment and quality early education, Tabernacle Child Development Center Inc has been in existence for over 60 years and continues to make an impact in the CSRA for children from ages 6 weeks to 5 years old.

Under the dynamic pastoral leadership and creative vision of Reverend Dr. Charles S. Hamilton, our Child Development Center, which we refer to as CDC, was formed in 1957 as an institution of higher learning establishing what would become a revolutionary and innovative legacy with a deep rich history.

The first Director of the CDC was Mrs. Ruby McNatt, who faithfully served in her role for many years, during which time our CDC board was formed. Upon Mrs. McNatt’s transition, Mrs. Louise B. Scott stepped into the role of Director and dedicated thirty-five phenomenal years of professional, loyal, and dedicated service. She like Reverend Hamilton, had vision and wisdom which led to her unprecedented contributing attributes. She worked diligently to build the daycare and mold the minds of children through instilling in them to be their best as they set out on their educational journey. Mrs. Scott was followed by Mrs. Julia Brown, Mrs. Gwen Lamback, Mrs. Veronica McAlpine, Mrs. Nancy Melton, Mrs. Cierra Combs, and our current Director, Ms. Mary Anne Carter.

In addition to our phenomenal directors, we have also been blessed with amazing CDC Board Chairs, and members. Our first Board Chair was Gladys Brown, followed by Deacon Florida Reid, and our current Board Chair, Dr. Sharon Ray.

Members of our Tabernacle Church Family, and surrounding CSRA community have entrusted our innocent littles ones to the capable, caring and well-trained hands of the Tabernacle Child Development Center faculty and staff for over sixty years, and we are committed to our mission statement, To Serve God by Serving God’s Children in a loving & nurturing environment that lays a Christian foundation and equips them for academic success.

Our prospective future endeavor is to build a state-of-the-art Louise B. Scott Preparatory Academy consisting of robust curricula that will provide an unmatched educational experience tailored for each student’s field of interest, in alignment with the needs of our community, city and state. Designated as a major project of significance by our CDC, the plans will be a comprehensive edifice with a connective feature surrounding the main atrium.

With each new generation, our church family has been actively engaged in very passionate ways in teaching the supremacy of God in all things for the joy of all our children thru Jesus Christ.

We thank our CDC Director, staff, Board Chair, and board members, for their commitment, dedicated time, and efforts! And you Tab family, your support, contributions and financial gifts have and continue to aid our mission as together we are transforming lives and building potentially brighter futures and brilliant leaders for the next generation.

Tabernacle Child Development Center Inc has been in existence for over 60 years and continues to make an impact in the CSRA. Currently, we accept children from ages 6 weeks to 5 years old. We are a QUALITY RATED program committed to providing a caring environment and quality early education that will benefit and prepare your child for each stage of their development.

We implement a wide range of teaching methods in our classrooms which includes the A-Beka and Core curriculum, technology, STEAM, and STEM to enhance lessons utilized by our teachers for interactive and age-appropriate developmental play. Our teachers are CDA and TCC certified and annually attend additional training conferences. To maximize individual and group teaching effectiveness, we keep our class sizes small. For effective communication with our parents, we incorporate class DOJO for real time updates which can also provide video and pictures of what your student is doing throughout the day.
